How to Repurpose your Candle Container

How to Repurpose your Candle Container

Candles not only infuse our homes with delightful, olfactory experiences and scents but they also leave behind charming containers that often go to waste! Our vessels are 100% recycled and would love to keep it that way. Instead of discarding (or recycling) them, why not embark on a creative journey and repurpose your candle containers into chic home decor? In this blog post, we'll explore innovative and stylish ways to give these containers a second life.

1. Cleanse and Reuse

Before diving into creative projects, make sure to thoroughly clean your candle containers. Remove any remaining wax and labels.

There are two ways to remove wax.

Freezing

Place your container in the freezer and let fully freeze for 12 hours.

Most of the time the wax should pop out very easily when you turn the vessel over. Simply throw away the wax and remains.

Melting

In a shallow pot of water, put your vessel in the water, and allow your wax to melt. (This shouldn't take long please keep a close eye on it.)

Carefully (I usually use a pot holder) take out your vessel and pour the wax out. All remains, including the wick, should easily pour out. Again, carefully (because the container will be hot) use a paper town to clean out the wax on the sides of the vessel. You'll need to allow for the vessel to cool completely before washing.

No matter which way you choose to remove your wax to repurpose your candle container, make sure to wash them with warm, soapy water, and let them dry. Now, you have a clean canvas ready for transformation.

2. Plant Paradise

Repurpose your candle jar into a miniature indoor garden. Add a layer of pebbles at the bottom for drainage, fill it with potting soil, and plant small succulents or herbs. Your repurposed candle container becomes a stylish and compact planter, bringing a touch of nature to your living space. If you are extra handy, you can carefully dremel a hole in the bottom of candle container for even better drainage.

3. Vanity Organizer

Our candle containers make elegant vanity organizers. Store your makeup brushes, cotton swabs, or hair accessories in these containers to keep your vanity clutter-free. Decorate the containers with ribbons or paint to match your decor style.

4. Office Essentials Holder

Our candle containers make perfect organizers for your desk. Use them to store pens, paper clips, or even small gadgets. Arrange a few containers together for a cohesive and functional desktop organizer that adds a touch of sophistication to your workspace. The perfect way to repurpose many candle containers.

5. Decorative Candle Holders

Repurpose your glass candle jars into unique candle holders. Place tea lights or small pillar candles inside for a soft, ambient glow. Add decorative elements like sand, stones, or dried flowers to enhance the visual appeal. Your repurposed candle containers now serve as stylish accents for any room.

6. Mini-Vases

One of my favorite ways to repurpose your glass candle containers is turning them into mini-vases. Like the candle holder, add decorative elements such as stones or colored-water for your mini-flower bouquet.

7. DIY Terrariums

For a whimsical touch, create your own terrariums using your repurposed candle jars. Layer the bottom with gravel, add activated charcoal for freshness, and top it off with soil and small plants like moss or ferns. Seal the jar with cork, and you have a self-sustaining ecosystem that brings a piece of nature indoors.

You can do it! It's so easy!

Don't let your beautiful candle containers go to waste. This is an easy DIY on how to repurpose your candle container. There are so many other ways to repurpose your candle container, with a dash of creativity, these candle containers can be reborn as functional and stylish elements in your home. From organizing your space to adding greenery and ambiance, repurposing candle containers is not just eco-friendly but also a delightful way to showcase your creativity. So, the next time you finish a candle, think beyond the burn and envision the endless possibilities of repurposing. Happy crafting and embracing your divine creativity!
